In total the company boasts 16 Ha of vineyards and 30 Ha of olive groves. The olive groves belong to the Lucena Designation of Origin (D.O.) and the vineyards are in the D.O. of Montilla-Moriles.
The climate and characteristics of the land make our products unique. We have a wide temperature range, which goes from 0ºC to 40ºC in summer (necessary for maturing the grapes). Average annual rainfall is 564 mm, with high seasonality. The land is made up of red soils with a marked clay texture, high in limestone. The average height above sea-level is 425 metres.
The tasks we carry out follow organic farming regulations. The vineyards are planted en trellises and the olive trees in 8×8 metre plots. Both crops are on non-irrigated land. To treat some pests we use biological control with auxiliary insects, and in others we use sex confusers and/or we plant legumes to distract the hairy caterpillar from our vines. We provide nutrients naturally through organic fertilisers, such as cow and sheep manure, and we mix the results of olive tree pruning, we compost leaves and grape stems with manure.
We also use authorized phytosanitary products in organic farming, such as copper, sulfur…
With this way of working we have seen how the soil and air have filled with insects, birds, bees etc. which surprise and enrich us. This is the inspiration for our logo which shows a sparrow on an olive branch and the rose in the earthenware pot or tinaja.
